How I Rate My iTunes Tracks

My active iTunes library is 6,800 tracks long, and for the purposes of reviews, I go through a hundred or more new songs each month. This amount of music would be daunting to manage, but I have picked up a few habits over the years that helps me keep it all in order:When adding songs to the library, I always rate them as one star.I have a smart play-list that only shows songs that have one star and have a play-count of 0.

This allows me to quickly go over the new songs that I have...

Blips Of Inspiration

I live my life in short blips of inspiration, the voids of which are filled with music. I like to always have my canal-phones in while I am working, and unless I need to talk to someone, I am involved in the song I am listening to at the moment.   My library is vastly wide in acit's array of styles, and so my daily listening is as varied as the thousand thoughts that enter my mind in a given day.  Sometimes I long for a song just for the memory that it recalls to my tired brain...

Coming In 2 Hours Early To Write

2 hours a day doesn't seem like much, but over 4 days a week, that is a full 8 hour day.

These few hours are the key to my sanity and point to my future. I use these hours to design, to write, and to make the future come to me. I have so much that I wish to accomplish, that I must make this effort.

I wake up early and bike in to the local Coffee Shop; then I sit and allow myself to be absorbed into my work. I design and tweak my sites, and I open Scrivener and write.

I usually...

Rose Hips For My Tea

I went out seeking Rose hips to make some tea, but found them too green to be of use. I marked well the spot in my mind; where a wild bush pushes up thorough the remains of may-apples.

Thwarted in my purpose; I turned down an overgrown tract that twisted through the underbrush, leading to a skeletal bird of steel with his nose cabled to a shaft run deep into the bowels of the earth, an old oil well. Black crud leaking like curdled blood from the well head.

There was no power source attached...

A Clutter Free Life

Lately I have become obsessed with the idea of a clutter free life; and consequently a clutter free mind. There is an old saying: "The more you own; the more what you own, owns you." I really have begun to feel that way. it seems that I am simply full of stuff. Little things that take up my time and consideration. Part of this is not so much what I have, but how I have it organized. If I compartmentalize my life I don't have this problem, I can do what I need to do without the various peices...

Cycling To Work In Warren

Today, I had to work in Warren, so I decided to take the 'hard' way in! I rode in on my bike. All 32 miles of hilly, winding road. I did enjoy it, but my legs feel weak. I haven't been in good shape this winter. I usually get this way. Every summer I get into fantastic shape, and then when winter confines me, I get all flabby again.

On the trip, I was in the middle of climbing one of the worst hills on the ride, and here comes a guy in a huge SUV, and he waves and gives me the thumbs up...
